Payment Policies

All fees must be paid in advance by automatic payment. Fees may be paid monthly or fortnightly. Overdue fees will attract a 10% penalty charge. Fees are to be paid for 52 weeks per year. Fees are required regardless of statutory holidays or illness.

For family vacation times fees are 50% reduced. Your child’s allowance of holidays is calculated on their weekly attendance multiplied by four.

For example:

Attendance of 1 day per week = 4 days holiday per year

Attendance of 5 Days per week = 20 days holiday per year

Fees are payable in advance and the first payment of 2 weeks must be paid in full before starting. Any prepaid fees will be refunded at the time your child leaves the centre, less any fees outstanding at that time.

Receipts are issued at the end of each tax year or on request.

Work and Income NZ Subsides are available for families on low incomes.

Late fees

Late fees will be levied in all cases where children are not collected by the end of their booked day at a rate of $15 per instance. We do ask families to respect our teacher’s rights to leave work when their shift ends as they work long days. If  a child is left at the centre outside of our licensed operating hours there is a $20 penalty fee applied per 1o minutes of time outside of these hours.  Late fees and other optional charges may be paid in cash or by internet banking.

Optional Services Available

From time to time, excursions will be organised further afield requiring payment of specific charges to cover transport and/or entry costs. These will be notified to parents on a case by case basis and consent will be sought in each case.

Other services may be added or offered from time to time. Feel free to make suggestions!

Note on Government Subsidies

The government subsidises teacher-lead education and care services for all licensed centres on a rate per attending child basis. Subsidies are provided in respect of every hour a child attends up to a maximum of 30 hours per week. The rates outlined above take all of these funding subsidies into account. Differentials in funding rates are applied by the government as follows:

  • Children aged 3 and 4 are funded by government at a higher rate for centres offering the “20 Hours ECE” service, but for up to 20 hours per week only.
  • Children aged under 2 years are funded at a higher rate than children aged 2 and over (up to 30 hours per week). The rate of funding per hour for under 2s is roughly the same as the “20 Hours ECE” rate for 3 and 4 year olds.
  • The funding rate for all age groups increases with a higher proportion of qualified and registered staff. Rates are calculated based on the proportion of registered staff on duty at any point in time (i.e. staff on non-contact time are not counted). The regulated minimum proportion of qualified staff per centre is 50%. A higher rate of subsidy kicks in when a centre has over 80% qualified staff – The Tree House qualifies for this rate.
  • No government funding is provided for hours attended in excess of 30 hours per week. For 3 and 4 year olds, a reduced rate of government funding applies for hours attended in excess of 20 but less than 30. · Latest funding rates are outlined on the Ministry of Education website.
